Back in August “The Britain in Bloom” judges were taken on a tour of Usk to see the flowers and to learn about local projects and to meet community representatives.
Usk was judged on three criteria, horticultural achievement, community participation and environmental responsibility.
The final score takes into account a range of factors from condition of street furniture to engagement of young people. Usk was competing to be the 2015 Royal Horticulture Society Champion of Champions.
As a result we are happy to announce three successes for Usk this year:
Usk has won the Wales in Bloom large village category for the 34th time.
Usk Junior School garden is the best School Garden in Wales with a gold award.
Best Front Garden in Wales was awarded to Usk gardeners Len and Marie Watts.
Usk in Bloom must now wait for the result of their entry in Britain in Bloom Champion of Champions. This will be announced on 16th October.
